History
Established in 1952
Phil’s bio
Phil Bellafatto founded Casa Mia in Aberdeen, Washington in 1952. Phil grew up above an Italian restaurant and pizzeria in the New York area. When he was young he worked at the restaurant, feeding coal to the ovens and helping out the cooks.
Phil eventually moved to the Harbor and open the Casa Mia Pizza and Spaghetti House. He patterned the restaurant after the many small family restaurants that were typical of the “Little Italy” section of New York of which he was familiar.
Roger Jump purchased the original Casa Mia, which was then located in Hoquiam, from Phil in 1974.
Meet the Business Owner: Roger Jump
Roger Jump was employed by the local paper mill for several years – until a long-time strike in the mid-70’s. After 6 months of standing in the picket line, a friend offered to help Roger purchase the pizzeria from Phil, a master pizza-maker. Roger and his wife Yvonne embraced the opportunity to provide for their (eventually) seven children. The Casa Mia also enabled them to serve the community: years dedicated to youth baseball, various community organizations and the City of Hoquiam.
Casa Mia of Hoquiam happily continues Roger’s legacy of providing quality home-style Italian food in a comfortable setting at an affordable price. Using traditional, original recipes, we strive to create consistent and delicious meals, highlighting our award-winning pizzas. We have added new dishes and a variety of toppings for a well-rounded dining experience. Family-owned and operated for 45 years, we greatly appreciate the opportunity to serve customers and community. Thank You, Grays Harbor!
